American Black Belt Academy holds 2nd Handgun Proficiency Course.

On Saturday, January 29, 2000, Harris County Deputy, and 2nd Degree Black Belt, Scott Holman III conducted a concealed Handgun License Class at American Black Belt Academy..

This course is required in order to obtain a Concealed Handgun License, CHL, in the State of Texas. The class consisted of two parts.  The 1st part was classroom instruction covering:

  • The laws that relate to weapons and the use of deadly force.

  • Handgun use, proficiency, and safety.

  • Nonviolent dispute resolution.

  • Proper storage practices for a handgun with an emphasis on the safety of children.

The second part of the course was conducted at Texas Shooters Range and consist of:

  • Demonstration of each applicant's proficiency with the category handgun for which they seeked certification.

Practice shooting visits to the range and personal instruction were taught by Mr. Ritchie to many of the applicants (and all passsed)..
